Antigua Guatemala was an early sight of indigenous resistance against 16th century Spanish colonizers. The Spaniards would eventually abandon the town to build the capital in Guatemala City. Antigua's landscape and ruins remain a tourist attraction and a World Heritage site.
The city of Jutiapa is a department of Guatemala that borders El Salvador and the Pacific Ocean. Jutiapa is Náhuatl and means river of flowers.
