We will explore biographies and stories from CAHAAS digital archive, and feature presentations and performances from painter Francisco A. Mejia and members of the Garifuna Museum.

Focuses on the modernization of El Salvador (1930s - 1960s) and its struggles to achieve political stability, national unity, and economic growth, paying special attention to questions of gender, class, and the exclusion of indigeneity. The course covers the events that led to a wave of 1960s emigrants to the US.
