Children's Shoes

Handmade children's shoes bought at a local market in the 1960s. In the history of El Salvador, zapateros (shoemakers) were some of the most organized union members during the 1920s - 1930s. They led many protests demanding workers' rights and job protection against the new machinery and factories that threatened their livelihood.
